Since its creation, Nicholson y Cano has had a significant participation in the insurance and reinsurance business. The Firm represents and gives advice to the major insurance groups and insurance companies operating within Argentina.        

Additionally, the Firm has provided counsel to several reinsurance companies in Argentina such as "Swiss Re", "Skandia International Insurance Corporation" (Sweden) and "Société Anonyme Française de Reassurance" (France). It had a relevant role providing advice to several insurance companies in the demonopolization and privatization of the reinsurance business as of 1991.            

In civil liability claims, the Firm provides a full service, assisting its clients in managing the claims in all its stages: extrajudicial, conciliation stage and lawsuit. It also advises and assumes the criminal defense of the insured. Currently the Firm handles claims of HSBC La Buenos Aires, El Comercio Cia. de Seguros, La Mercantil Andina, Consolidar (BBVA) y Swiss Medical Group.

In what concerns life insurance, the Firm has acted as counsel to the entity that groups the most important life and annuity companies "Asociación de Aseguradores de Vida y Retiro de la República Argentina" (AVIRA)   and to entity that groups the insurance companies related to the pension fund system "Cámara de Compañías de Vida Previsional". We provide regular advice to insurance companies in this sector, such as HSBC-New York Life, Prudential Seguros and Consolidar.
